Tour of Bohol
MANILA, Philippines — Visiting cyclists from Manila and other parts of Luzon and Visayas will experience racing with the scenic view of the 3rd district of Bohol as a backdrop as the two-day Tour of Bohol unfolds Saturday.
RG Roa, Mark Ellis and Paolo Sauler of Fitness First are again favored in category three as they try to extend their dominating form after ruling past cycling events organized by Bike King headed by Raul Cuevas.
This is the first time that a cycling event will be held in the third district of Bohol and helping Bike King ensure the success is Rep. Arthur C. Yap who is throwing his all-out support.
“Staging the Tour of Bohol will jumpstart the promotion of Bohol not only as a tropical tourist haven but also as an exciting sports destination. Participants will experience on two wheels the beauty of Bohol’s 3rd district, particularly the view of its pristine beaches,” said Yap.
Also drawing support from TRAP, Pocari Sweat, Orbea Bicycles and Corratec Bicycles, a total of 60 riders led by Rep. Rolando Andaya, have signed up forming nine teams.
The number of participants, however, is expected to increase on the day of the race.
Action begins at 1 p.m. today with the 90-kilometer road race which starts and ends at the Loay Municipal Hall.

9th GABRIEL’S SYMPHONY
12-Hour Multi-Sport Celebration In Celebration of Gabriel
Saturday, 3 September 2011, 6am-6pm
Alabang Country Club, Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City
Sports enthusiasts of all ages can look forward to another day of sports events, fun-filled activities and an opportunity to help children with disabilities.
On September 3, Saturday, the Gabriel’s Symphony Foundation (GSF) will hold its 9th annual staging of the Gabriel’s Symphony’s “12-Hour Multi-Sport Celebration in Memory of Gabriel.” As in previous years, the event will run from 6am to 6pm at the Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City.
Organized by GSF and its main founder, Sen. Pia S. Cayetano, the fund-raiser is held in memory of her son Gabriel Cayetano Sebastian who died from a rare congenital disorder in 2001 at the age of nine months. Cayetano describes the day-long event as a celebration by family and friends of the “birthday which Gabriel never had.”
In the last nine years, the GSF has been raising funds to help differently abled children, including free surgery for those with cleft lip and palate, and providing free hearing aids to hearing-impaired children and artificial eyes to visually-impaired kids.
The GSF has also been helping indigent children develop their potentials, such as the children of Daang Hari, who have shown promise as competitive runners and athletes.
This year, the GSF has lined up various activities including Swim-A-Thon, Bike-A-Thon, and Run-A-Thon, Triathlon plus SuperTriKids Triathlon and Mile Run races, which include the Buddy Run and Walk Your Dog. For the 6th straight year, Maiqui Dayrit will raise funds by doing a full Ironman distance triathlon (3.8k swim, 180k bike, and 42.2k run).
The fundraiser will also feature the ‘Recycling Depot Project.’ Friends and supporters of GSF are encouraged to bring their old denims, magazines and children’s books on event day. Old denims will be transformed into denim shoes and sandals while old magazines will be recycled into paper bags. Old books will be donated to the ‘Let’s Read’ program of GSF and Pinay In Action for the use of indigent children in various communities.

SUPERKIDS, the youth development program of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines, endeavors to cultivate a dynamic multi-sport environment in the Philippines, appropriate for the development of growing children and adolescents, which will prepare them for life-long participation in multi-sport.
Welcome to SUPERKIDS!
TrAP envisions a thriving and dynamic youth and junior multi-sport scene in the Philippines that is characterized by growing numbers of enthusiasts who will be doing some form of multi-sport for the rest of their lives. It also envisions that future champions of multi-sport events will come from this youth sector, properly trained and nurtured athletes who will represent triathlon and our country creditably on and off the playing field.
And, SUPERKIDS will be the lead program to achieve that dream!
The program will consist of races, training camps, lectures, demonstrations, and other training and educational activities for young multi-sport athletes, coaches, and parents, the main stakeholders of youth triathlon. All these activities will be designed to be appropriate for and tailored to the needs, health, and well being of young athletes.

their young talents in their drive to earn the right to represent the country in the
2014 Youth Olympic Games.
Gabriel Allen Santiago, a multi-titled 14-year old triathlete who also is a member
of the national pool, leads the charge in the boys division in the event organized
by Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) in cooperation with Subic Bay
Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) with K-Swiss as its presenter.
Distance of the race is at 350-m swim, 10.5-k bike and 2.5-k run with Santiago’s
claim as the country’s top 13-15 triathlete to be put to test as he battles a number
of outstanding youth triathletes led by Cagayan De Oro’s Sixto "Louie" Lalanto,
Malaysia’s Mohd Tareef and 2009 champion Rommel Uy of Bacolod.
Also expected to crowd the favorites are Misamis Oriental trained Jimuel "Niko"
Patilan, Jose Marie "Jomai" Santos and Jose Nobles IV and Javier Ocampo from
Manila.
Ten girls triathletes led by Malaysian Aisya Farisha Farid and MisOr bet
Victoria Deldio, will see action in the distaff side of the race also supported
by SPEEDO, David’s Salon, Century Tuna, Asian Centre for Insulation
Philippines, Gatorade, Fitness First, TIMEX, Philippine Sports Commission
(PSC) and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
“The SUBIT is one of the toughest races being held in this country because
aside from the foreign rivals, the event brings together the best local
triathletes in one tournament. Thus it is very important for our triathletes in
the 13-15 age division to prove themselves since we will select from this
group Philippines representative to the YOG,” said TRAP president Tom
Carrasco Jr.
Now on its 18th year, also expected to shine are seasoned triathletes who
will see action in the Junior Male and Female Elite.
Asian Beach Games veteran Philip Jurolan will join hands with Mark Altura,
Jose Ignacio Mapa and Kurt Cabanilla as they carry the country's color in
the Junior Male against top bets from Hong Kong, Iran and Malaysia.
Davao City's Mary Pauline Fornea, Misamis Oriental's Samantha Tiro and
Manila's Gabrielle Santos will do battle with powerhouse junior team from
Hong Kong in the Junior Female.
Also racing this Saturday is the Female Elite and Female U-23 with
multi-titled LC Langit and Kim Mangrobang to carry the cudgels of the
host country against top bets from Japan, Australia, New Zealand,
Netherlands, and Israel.
